My family and I were out running errands the other day, when a song came on the radio that I hadn’t heard in a long time – Coyboy Song by Thin Lizzy. This is one of my many favorite songs. Thin Lizzy formed in Dublin, Ireland in 1969. Cowboy Song was on their Jailbreak album, along with hits Jailbreak and The Boys Are Back in Town. The album came out in 1976, my freshman year in high school. From what I can find so far, Cowboy Song was never released as a single. To me, it’s the best song on that album. Time Travel Tuesday – Most Memorable Vacation

My most memorable vacation as a child was when my parents and I drove from Everett, Washington to my dad’s family homestead in east Texas – Marietta, Texas to be specific. Out there they pronounce it “May-Retta”. This was back in February of 1975. I was in 7th grade. I was especially excited because I got out of school for 2 weeks – YaY!!!! One of my favorite parts of the trip wasn’t just the destination, it was actually the long drive along the way and everything we got to see. My favorite part along the way, both directions, was traveling through Arizona and New Mexico.
We stopped in Globe, Arizona along the way to see one of my dad’s childhood friends. My dad was born in San Antonio, Texas, but lived in a few other towns, some of the now actually ghost towns, before settling in Globe to spend the remaining part of his childhood. Anyway, I loved visiting the family homestead in east Texas, but loved going through Arizona and New Mexico too.
The homestead is 365 acres, and was a cotton plantation way back when – sometime in the 1800’s, but I’m not exactly sure. My dad’s family had it back then, too. By the time I saw it, the plantation house was still standing, and actually being lived in by some of my cousins, but it was pretty run down. I was 12 at the time, and truly loved exploring that 365 acres. I remember seeing road runners (they don’t look too much like the cartoon), trees red with cardinals, deer of course, too. There were also wolves, although I didn’t see any – just signs of them. In backtracking during my exploring, my cousin found where a wolf had stepped in a footprint I had left.
I remember all of the Stucky’s restaurants, as well as all of the places where you can buy fireworks along the way. There isn’t really anything specific about what I love about Arizona and New Mexico, I just love that part of the country.

Let’s say thanks to our troops
9 06 2007Regardless of your political views, we all need to support our troops, here and overseas. They are fihting to protect our way of life, and to protect our freedom. I found this song on a site that sends postcards to our men and women fighting overseas. Here’s a link to the site – http://www.letssaythanks.com/Home1280.html. Our troops deserve a heartfelt thanks for what they are doing for their country. Here’s the song link – http://www.letssaythanks.com/Portals/0/MikeCorrado.wmv. To any of our armed services troops who might be reading this, Thank you for fighting to protect my family, our way of life, and our freedom. If I could meet you face to face, I’d give you a hearty handshake, and a salute, even though I’m not military myself.

Hello world!
4 06 2007My wife started blogging a few weeks ago. Now she has 3 blogs! She’s become quite the expert! I started thinking, I could do the blogging thing, too. I have a strong love of music. I love many different types of music, but I like what’s commonly called “classic rock” a little more than the rest. I remember when it was just called rock, just like I remember when it was coke, not coke classic. At any rate, this is early on in my little project here. I love music trivia of all sorts. Should anyone checking this site out like to leave a comment(s), please do so. Any bits of music trivia, concert stories, meeting musicians, working with musicians, just about anything, are greatly appreciated. My idea for this site is to post links to my favorite videos and songs, as well as posting bits of trivia. I was thinking of featuring one band/musical act a day , or week, with something new about the act each day, or somewhere along those lines. You can expect to hear about music from Pink Floyd ,Willie Nelson, Ozzie Osbourne to Third Day, Mercy Me, October Project, Bruce Cockburn, Sammy Hagar, GTR, Yes, Honeymoon Suite, Lenny Kravitz, just to name a few.
